Pearl Health Counseling Team

Adam Nickell

Adam is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about trauma treatment and seeks to help individuals overcome the symptoms and lasting impact of trauma. He seeks to support individuals in moving forward with their goals and overcoming barriers using a wide variety of theoretical approaches, that include: Gestalt therapy, Positive Psychology, Adlerian Therapy, Mindfulness, Somatic-based psychotherapies, body-based psychotherapy, wholistic health, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and spiritually based counseling, if desired.

Adam knows how difficult it can be to struggle with the impact and symptoms of trauma and believes that with the right tools and support, anyone can find progress toward their goals. He seeks to help people discover and connect with their inner strength and wisdom and to empower them to move forward on their chosen path.

Adam worked while pursuing his degrees in Fort Hall, Idaho serving the residents in a mental health clinic. Following his graduation in 2014 he worked in Pocatello and Soda Springs, Idaho in a private practice before moving to Idaho Falls in 2017 where he joined the Pearl Health Clinic staff as a trauma- focused therapist. These experiences have continued to reinforce his trust in having a deep respect for people of all different perspectives, cultures, and identities and the belief that this is critical in providing mental health services.

Adam was certified through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA.ORG) as having completed basic training of 50 hours in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) under Dr. Phil Manfied and Colleen West, MFT in 2015 as a treatment for trauma and continues to work toward advanced certifications.

Adam holds a Master of Social Work degree from Walla Walla University and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Idaho State University.
